Created as a supermini hatchback, the i20 was created by the South Korean car company Hyundai.

Debated at the Paris Motor Show in 2008 and predictably site between the i10 and the i30 in terms of size.

Replacing its predecessor, the Hyundai Getz, the i20 is largely sold in Europe and India.

A first generation was to use a brand new platform created exclusively at the technical center in Russelsheim (the largest city in the Groß-Gerau district in Germany), this was to allow for European model integration.

Using the common MacPherson struts for the suspension, the i20 scored an impressive five stars on the Euro NCAP tests. This good score was a result of modern safety features like rain-sensing wipers, automatic headlamps, impact-sensing auto door unlocks and an advanced engine immobilizer.

A second generation model launched in 2014 and a full upgrade of the interior and exterior was extremely noticeable.

New models featured an engine stop/start button, automatic temperature control and Bluetooth-integrated compatibility.

In India, the i20 won car of the year, ten different options could be chosen which included features like seat belt pre-tensioners, dual front airbags, rear cameras and reverse parking sensors.
