The Q30 was first released under Nissan’s luxury sub brand, Infiniti, in 2015. However, the Concept version was unveiled back in 2013.

It represents the smallest car to ever be produced by Nissan’s sub brand, putting it beneath its larger siblings, the Q50 and Q70, in the lineup.

Infiniti also released a crossover version called the QX30.

This version received the typical changes used to make it a crossover. This included a higher ride height and black plastic trim to give it a more rugged SUV appearance.

Competition for the Q30 has typically come from other executive subcompacts. Of course, this includes a number of German rivals like the Audi A3, Mercedes-Benz A-Class, and Volkswagen Golf, in particular the Mk7 version.

Trim levels for the model started with the base Pure, followed by the Luxe/Luxe Tech, and Sport/Sport Tech.

Powertrains for the Q30 included two petrol options and two diesel options. The petrol versions consisted of a 1.6 L or a 2.0 L inline-4 made by Mercedes-Benz. Diesel options similarly consisted of either a 1.5 L or 2.2 L inline-4.

All of these were turbocharged, which is very common for modern cars. Also, the larger petrol and diesel options were offered in either FWD or AWD.

Engines were mated with either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed automatic transmission.

The model was quickly discontinued in 2019, meaning that only a single generation of the subcompact executive was released. At this point, not only the model, but Infiniti as a whole, was withdrawn from the UK and the European market altogether
