The Nissan Kicks was the first subcompact crossover produced by the Japanese automaker.
Production of the model began back in 2016 and to kick start the line Nissan took the V Platform already in use under the Micra and Note.
It was this small form that gives it the title "subcompact" and the fact that the chassis is designed to be driven on the road that makes it a "crossover SUV".
Inside the body, it is as spacious and as practical as you would expect from a traditional SUV but with fewer negative aspects such as high running costs.
Occupants found that the interior is complemented with a wide range of high-tech features such as a touchscreen infotainment system and mobile device connectivity.
For the driver, a rear-view backup camera helps ensure that reversing the Kicks is done as safely as possible.
In 2020 a new plug-in hybrid version of the car was introduced called the Kicks e-Power along with a redesigned exterior.
At the front of the e-Power is a 1.2-liter gasoline engine mated to an electric motor that powers the front wheels.
It was initially launched in Thailand and in 2021 that updated design was merged into the rest of the Nissan Kicks models on sale too.
