Launched first in China in 2010, then in the USA in 2011, the Verano is Buicks compact car to replace the Skylark.
It is a line of compact cars produced by the Buick division of American automobile manufacturer General Motors.
The first Verano was unveiled in China on November 24th, 2010 as the Buick Weiland, and was introduced in North America on January 6th, 2011 as the Buick Verano.
Its first generation was considered to be an early success for GM's "new" Buick, becoming the best-selling compact car in the United States in 2012, 2013, and 2014.
The Verano's standard 2.4-liter I4 engine produces 201 horsepower (151 kW) and is mated to either a six-speed automatic or manual transmission.
It has five trim levels: 1SV, 2SV, 1SL, 2SL and the fully optioned 3SL model. In China, it replaced the Buick LaCrosse.
This Verano is built on GM's Gamma II platform that also underpins the Chevrolet Cruze and the Chinese market Buick Excelle, with optional all-wheel drive.
It competes in the highly competitive mid-size luxury car class, against other American-made mid-size cars such as the Cadillac ATS and Lincoln MKZ.
It is available with a 2-liter turbocharged Ecotec direct-injection 4-cylinder (DI) engine that produces 201 horsepower, with either a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission.
